Leanne Broadway is an experimental filmmaker, with a background in film costume and fashion design, as well as traditional film editing. She creates intimate, and sometimes, voyeuristic films in mixed media.
Her work combines live action and super-position to explore her life and the subconscious mind through performance and symbolism, utilising layered textural imagery, amplifying emotion with colour and often building intense, layered soundscapes, emphasising altered states through subjective design. Rarely speaking, her characters use the language of clothing and action to express identity, masculinity and femininity.
Recent works have explored her experiences of the surreal reality of Psychosis and Depression, and the process of recovering back to health, highlighting the role of the natural world can take in this transition.
A graduate from London College of Fashion, she specialised in print, using textile imagery as a form of storytelling, and has styled and produced costumes for short films Going Out, First Catastrophe and Home Movies. Additionally, working as a freelance designer, manufacturer and constructing latex garments for Phoebe English. Other creative collaborators include SHOWstudio, Vidal Sassoon, LCF and TIGI.
